While Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Lost) may have spent the most time before each day of shooting Thor: The Dark World for makeup and prosthetics work to play Algrim the Strong and later, his alter ego Kurse, Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who) doesn’t have it easy either playing the film’s primary antagonist.
The film’s subtitle The Dark World refers to the realm of Svartalfheim, home of the Dark Elves – from Marvel Comics’ take on Norse mythology. Their leader, Eccleston’s Malekith- along with his army – not only wear masks as part of their standard issue armored suits – but underneath he’s got another mask, one that eventually becomes half-burnt.
